Guide to the Governance UI

Governance on CENNZnet will be carried out using the Governance Discord channel and our voting UI. This means you can stay up to dateon the latest proposals and referendum statuses via our two Discord announcement channels: Council Approvals and Citizen Referendums.

In this article we explain the UI process for councillors, voting citizens and then explain the Discord notification system.

Governance process for councillors

1.Submitting a proposal [Note: only councillors can submit a proposal]

  • Fill in the required information. This includes a justification, enactment delay and a function call (optional).

2. Voting on a proposal

  • An announcement that a proposal has been submitted will automatically be sent to the council-approval announcement channel. Note this channel is public so everyone can view the proposal’s progress.

  • Click on the vote link at the bottom of the notification card. This will take you to the specific voting UI at gov.cennz.net.

  • Use the UI options to Reject or Pass the proposal.

3. Voting results

  • IF the proposal is rejected the following notification will be posted to the Discord channel.

  • IF the proposal is successful a referendum will be announced for voting citizens on the citizens-referendum announcement channel.

Now sit tight and wait for the results of the referendum!

Governance process for Voting Citizens

1.Referendum Announced

  • Once a proposal is passed by councillors, a referendum will automatically be instigated. Voting citizens will be alerted to the referendum by a notification in the citizens-referendum announcement channel.

2. Veto the proposal

  • To Veto the proposal follow the link on the referendum discord notification. This will take you to the specific voting UI at gov.cennz.net.

  • To Veto the proposal select the appropriate option at the bottom of the page.

3. Voting results

IF the referendum is rejected the following notification will be posted to the Discord channel.

IF the referendum is successful a referendum will be announced for voting citizens on the citizens-referendum announcement channel.

The governance process for this proposal is now complete!

Referendum notifications explained

The referendum announcements are organised into some basic categories: colour code and status.

Colour Codes

The colour code indicates the general stage that the referendum is currently in. Its a quick UI feature that allows you at a glance to identify whether the referendum is still voting, it passed, or it failed.

  • Purple: Voting stage (both proposals & referendums)
  • Red: Proposal or Referendum rejected
  • Orange:  Referendum passed, awaiting enactment delay
  • Green: Referendum passed and enacted

Status

The status gives more specific information as to exactly what is happening with that specific referendum or proposal. These status labels come straight from the blockchain.

  • Deliberation: Council is deliberating
  • Disapproved: The council voted against this proposal
  • ReferendumDeliberation: Referendum is in progress, CENNZ holders are deliberating
  • ReferendumVetoed: The proposal was voted against during the referendum phase
  • ApprovedWaitingEnactment: Referendum approved, awaiting enactment
  • ApprovedEnacted: Proposal approved and enacted
  • ApprovedEnactmentCancelled: Proposal was approved but enactment cancelled
